It’s that time of year … Black Friday and Christmas Shopping. I don’t know how you feel about this season—or shopping in general—but I love it; especially shopping at the mall. I love the crowds and the busy atmosphere, but after an hour or so, it starts to get to me. I get tired and hungry and crave food that is definitely not healthy. 🙂

Black Friday is traditionally the day when there are not just good but fantastic sales at various retailers around North America. If you’re looking for a deal, then today is the day! Some companies move from being in the “red” for the first part of the year, to moving into the “black” with their profit levels.

Unfortunately, there are those who hold VERY tightly onto the idea of saving on this day. Reports abound each year of overeager shoppers dealing damage not only to retail facilities but also to their fellow shoppers sometimes with lethal results! Everyone loves a deal and getting some well-needed discounts and savings these days – but let’s keep this in perspective…

Jesus said in Matthew 6 that anxiety over what we need should be the furthest thing from our minds. God’s care for animals and plants is evident all around us and his love for us is SO much more immense!

So, when you’re shopping today or in the days ahead, take a deep breath and relax in the fact that God cares for you more than you can know. Go ahead and ask him for your “daily bread”. He’ll provide for you in ways you can’t imagine.

God, I thank you that you will provide for me in every way. I relinquish my worry and anxiety to you. I receive your peace in exchange.

“Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.”

Psalm 116:7
